Riverton City Storm and Runoff Analysis
Emphasis: Water Resources
Sponsor: Riverton City
Scope:
• Determine the 85th percentile, storm for Riverton City. A dry period of 6 hours defines a new storm. Exclude storms totaling less than 0.1" and greater than 99.5%. Exclude snow storms. Exclude storms lasting longer than 24 hours. If this varies significantly from west to east provide recommendations for how to distribute storm(s) over the City.
• Determine the pre-development hydrology for Riverton (Riverton soils and vegetation) during the 85th percentile storm for Riverton undeveloped ground for grades for 0.5%, 2% and 5%.
• For comparison determine the pre-development hydrology for typical Riverton farm property during the 85th percentile, storm for ground grades of 0.5%, 2% and 5%.
• Recommend urban development designs that can accommodate the runoff volumes that must be retained on the site to match the pre-development hydrology. Address public safety, health, nuisance, liability and maintenance of the designs. Use the City drafts attached as a suggested starting point.
• Recommend other low impact development (LID) designs that will minimize the negative impacts of retaining the pre-development hydrology volumes. Including but not limited to: Complete private property retention, rural designs, minimization of public impervious infrastructure etc.
