Description: The purpose of the project is to determine the energy requirements of Utah’s public water and wastewater services. While some state and national estimates have been developed, water-related energy consumption in Utah has not been evaluated. The results could have a significant impact on how they manage our water and energy resources in the future.The project fills a research need to quantify energy requirements and provide information which may lead to more efficient design and better planning of water resource systems. Students will gather information on energy intensities of various urban water cycles along the Wasatch Front through online research, interviews with water personnel, and site visits. Students will analyze the data to evaluate energy intensities of different technologies or systems and prepare recommendations in a final report.
