Team Building Exercises
By now you have had some experience working together with your team and be able to understand what some of the dangers are personally and collectively to forming an effective team. We also performed an evaluation at the end of last semester that allowed you to assess your own and each team members team actions including providing strengths and weaknesses. I will be emailing you those evaluations for your review (you will receive the evaluations others made for you). For this assignment you should do the following:
1) Review your evaluations and remember this feedback is intended to make you a better team member, if nothing critical is there at all the person did not provide an honest evaluation.
2) Arrange to have a team meeting, with your mentor who will have the evaluations of all team members. Discuss how you are functioning as a team and what problems and strengths you might have a tendency towards and may already be experiencing. Share personal goals that result from your own self-assessment based on the evaluations you have received.
3) Make a plan and set goals for how you can capitalize on your team's strengths and manage the potential pitfalls.
4) During your team meeting each of you should take the opportunity to ask for any additional feedback about your own personal strengths and weaknesses from the evaluations. Using that feedback and any suggestions your team might provide set a goal for yourself on what you will do to have a good team experience this semester and how you might improve on your weaknesses.
Turn in your team goals and your individual goals your mentor and to Dr. Nelson
Note: Meetings held to give and receive feedback should be carried out in a friendly and respectful manner. Invite open and honest feedback and then be willing to sit back and listen/learn from what is said.
