Commitments

< Sponsors

The following are guidelines for typical academic-year long projects.  Fast track and longer duration projects will be assessed and negotiated on an individual basis to accommodate sponsor’s schedule and needs.

  • Develop a project idea and commit to participate by mid-May for projects to be completed in the following academic year.

  • Hold a project kick-off meeting with the undergraduate project team and their respective graduate student mentor at the beginning of Fall Semester to discuss project requirements and performance expectations

  • Review/approve the project’s RFP (Request for Proposal) to be written by the team’s graduate mentor after the kick-off meeting

  • Review/approve the project proposal to be written by the undergraduate project team within two weeks upon receiving the respective RFP

  • Interact and provide guidance to teams as time permits.  Most project guidance will be provided by our Capstone Advisory Team, Capstone technical advisors, graduate mentors and/or faculty members

  • Review monthly status project status reports submitted by the project teams.  Comment as necessary to help your project team stay on project path.  Provide mid-course project path adjustments as necessary

  • Review final reports in April

  • Provide an opportunity for team to present their work and results to your organization

  • Attend year-end presentations of all student teams in April as time permits

  • Provide financial support to help us provide opportunities for our graduating students to gain practical project experiences before entering their field of practice.  Meanwhile, their Capstone effort provides a good return in investment as their results can help enhance your organization’s project efficiency, product effectiveness, cost- and time-saving objectives, competiveness, profitability, etc.
